If you're going to play rdr1 now try and go for the xbox one x version where it renders the game in 4k and eliminates all frame rate problems (and is also using the 360 assets which were better than the ps3 version). Going back to the ps3 version of rdr1 after playing rdr2 is just going to do it even more a disservice. There's still hunting but that one would be more like cowboy gta4.

The graphics are 2008 don't expect it to be spectacular but its one of rockstar best games yet. I rank it a 3. Behind san andreas and rdr2.

(i started playing it just a month before rdr2 came out due to the hype of rdr2) In my opinion you should've played rdr1 before 2, however i can see why you didn't. Regardless you should definitely play it.

Even though it's a bit on the old side, it's still good. Im a pc guy, so i never had the option play the first. Red dead redemption 2.

The character detail is especially impressive. there are some gameplay elements that feel a bit. Rdr2 and rdr1 are both exciting games to play, but there is a considerable time gap between the epilogue of both games. The events of rdr2 take place in the year 1904.

He just looks like a badass, mean son of a bitch. I think it's the eyebrows and his eyes. In rdr2 he just looks like a clueless door at all times.

That's just during the story. The epilogue completely butchered him for no reason. I bought rdr2 in january, and i'm currently trying to platinum on ps4.

The story is worth it. Just understand that map size and graphic quality will be a major step back from rdr2 and some of the small and subtle things in experience will be missing (like unique character interactions based on previous interaction or reputation). Rdr1 is still worth playing tbh.

It is set a couple years after rdr2 i believe and carries on john’s story which i think is pretty cool as well. You should check it out. And take some time to reflect on how you’re perspective of rdr2 would be different if you had gotten rdr1 first.

Well i've played rdr1 long before rdr2 but still found it better. Rdr2 is a great game aswell, especially with all the fancy mechanics, better acting and it feeling more fluently and smooth. The story and characters are great aswell.

But i’d recommend just playing rdr2 first since it’s better, and a prequel so playing rdr1 afterwards will feel like a natural progression, storywise. The one and only true dante. It's worth playing but be aware that it is going to be (compared to rdr2) a fairly dated experience overall.

Rockstar has learned a lot about storytelling, character development, dialogue, and narrative progression since rdr1 and it shows. I mean, rdr1 is a great game (especially for its time) and absolutely worth playing but just be aware that.
