Not much if a point in watching 1999. I watched the 1999 adaptation first and gonna just recommend starting with the 2011 series. The 2011 adaptation is a remake with better animation,less filler,etc.

Also, the 1999 adaptation doesn't adapt some of the later arcs and instead opting to leave off on a cliffhanger. 2011 is better because the animation is better and it has more episodes, and more people will know what you're talking about because 2011 is the most popular version.
