Even after you choose to spare paarthurnax, you can still go get them as followers, despite the attitudes of delphine and esbern. As followers, they'll even defend you if delphine or esbern attack you (like if they catch you stealing something). In my head, i like to help out people that could use some adventure.

Bringing recruits to delphine does not induct you into the blades. You have to kill paarthunax for that to occur. Recruiting 3 people will remove the quest for delphine.
